The last time President Donald Trump attended the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, was just before Covid hit, in January 2020. His return next week, along with his financial entourage, promises to be even more ominous.
Trump’s arrival in the Swiss Alps will come as European leaders and businesses struggle to move to a new phase in their relationship with the U.S. president, moving from one of appeasement to hesitant opposition. His threats against Greenland, attack on Venezuela, withdrawal from the UN climate framework, and bullying of the Federal Reserve demand a new strategy for dealing with him.
