EU climate chief Frans Timmermans webinar with Callaway Climate Insights next month
Exclusive opportunity for Callaway Climate Insights subscribers to ask the EU climate commissioner questions

We are delighted to announce that Europe’s Climate Commissioner Frans Timmermans will participate in an exclusive conference for Callaway Climate Insights subscribers next month.
The executive vice president of the European Commission will give his views on how the EU must accelerate its climate goals and discuss cooperation with the U.S. He has also agreed to participate in a question-and-answer session.
The virtual CCI Boardroom Conference on Jan. 21 next will only be available to CCI subscribers.
Timmermans is one of the most influential climate leaders on the globe — a straight talker who will share his insights on transatlantic deals, how corporations can respond to the climate crisis, and public-private partnerships.
Timmermans is responsible for leading the Commission’s work on the European Green Deal and its first European Climate Law to enshrine the 2050 climate-neutrality target into EU law. The Dutch politician has also been stepping up the commitment to the 2030 emission reduction target, increasing it to at least 55% by 2030.
Right now, he is leading international negotiations to strengthen the ambition of other major emitters by 2021, by which time a comprehensive plan would be presented to increase the EU’s target for 2030 towards 55% in a responsible way.
From his Brussels HQ he also leads the Commission’s work on extending the Emissions Trading System to the maritime sector and reducing free allowances to airlines over time.
His team is coordinating work on the Just Transition Fund, to support those most affected by the green transition and developing the biodiversity strategy for 2030 and mainstreaming biodiversity priorities across all policy areas from trade and industry, to agriculture and maritime.
