MEXICO CITY (Callaway Climate Insights) — Mexico’s President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum ran a campaign that promised to boost renewable energy investments by more than $13 billion and to implement policies aimed at decarbonizing one of the world’s worst emitters of greenhouse gasses.

But her campaign also emphasized social policies, to build new oil refineries, and to continue the left-leaning, populist policies of her predecessor, outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. 

Can she do both? If not, which Sheinbaum will appear Oct. 1 when she is inaugurated?
