Stunned by Helene, investors batten down for Hurricane Milton

Hurricane Milton is headed directly for Florida. This map from the National Hurricane Center shows tropical-storm-force wind speed probabilities from Monday morning through Saturday morning.

After a weak hurricane season to date, investors were taken by surprise two weeks ago by the wrath of Hurricane Helene in the Carolinas. Nobody was taking any chances as Hurricane Milton strengthened to a Cat. 5 on Monday, as insurance stocks and local Florida theme-park stocks tanked.
