Last-minute investor hopes for a reprieve from vicious cuts to wind and solar tax subsidies in the Senate were dashed over the weekend, sending renewable stocks falling early Monday as tense negotiations resulted in not just the worst-case scenario for subsidies but also a new tax on renewable companies doing business with China.
